The Tennessee Titans announced this week that Dave Gardi will assume the role of Executive Vice President of Football Operations, a position that reshapes the franchise’s leadership structure.
Gardi arrives after a 23‑year tenure in the NFL, including 21 years spent in the league office and a recent appointment as Senior Vice President of Football Initiatives with the Washington Commanders.
In his new capacity he will oversee a broad portfolio that includes Football Administration, Football Strategy and Analytics, Football Research, Football Information Systems, Video, Equipment, Team Operations and Security.
Unlike his predecessor, who reported directly to owner Amy Adams Strunk, Gardi will report to General Manager Mike Borgonzi, marking a shift toward a more centralized decision‑making chain.
A New Reporting Line
Borgonzi voiced enthusiasm for the hire, saying Gardi’s extensive experience positions the club to make more informed, strategic moves on and off the field.
Gardi’s educational background reflects a blend of political science and law, having earned a degree from Brown University and a Doctor of Law from Hofstra University, where he also played quarterback for the Brown Bears.
Analysts predict that his league‑level perspective and operational acumen will streamline processes, enhance collaboration across departments, and ultimately contribute to a more competitive roster.
