Dave Van Horn, the longtime architect of Arkansas Razorbacks baseball, has been selected for induction into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2027.
The honor will be celebrated at the ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet on January 8, 2027, in Chicago, where Van Horn will join an elite group of coaches who have shaped the sport.
A Career Defined by Consistency and Triumph
Over three decades, Van Horn has amassed 974 career wins, including 390 in the SEC, and stands among only five coaches in college baseball history with at least 300 SEC victories.
His teams have reached the College World Series eight times, highlighted by a runner‑up finish in 2018, and have captured three SEC regular‑season titles.
Beyond wins, Van Horn has mentored 43 All‑America players, produced 59 All‑SEC selections and helped 155 of his charges hear their names called in the MLB draft, with eleven earning first‑round picks.
Among the notable alumni is outfielder Andrew Benintendi, who emerged from Van Horn’s system before enjoying a successful MLB career, while pitcher Wehiwa Aloy exemplifies the program’s ongoing talent pipeline.
He has also left his mark at other programs, guiding Nebraska to two CWS appearances and forging successful stints at Northwestern State and Central Missouri State before returning to Arkansas.
The induction marks the second time a Razorback coach has entered the ABCA Hall of Fame, following the legacy of Norm DeBriyn, and underscores the program’s sustained excellence.
Van Horn’s impact extends off the field as well, having been named national coach of the year twice and earning recognition for his development of pitching staff, notably under the guidance of assistants like Kevin Kopps.
