Florida SouthWestern State College announced this week that David Grace will assume the role of head coach for its Division I men's basketball team. The decision follows a thorough search and reflects the administration's confidence that Grace's leadership will elevate the program's competitiveness.
A Coach With a Proven Track Record
Grace arrives after a two‑decade career in the United States Air Force, where he honed disciplined strategies and team cohesion. His transition to college basketball has been marked by roles as an assistant at several prominent institutions, including UCLA, the University of California, Berkeley, Vanderbilt University and Oregon State University.
Prior to his most recent head coaching positions at Centennial High School in Arizona and Campbell Hall in California, Grace served as an assistant at California State University, Sacramento and San Francisco State University. In those roles he recruited talent, developed game plans and mentored players who later pursued professional opportunities.
Athletic directors say his blend of military precision and college‑level experience positions him to attract top junior college prospects and to implement a culture of excellence. An official press release is expected early next week, confirming the appointment and outlining the next steps for the program.
