David Sammons Takes the Helm of Fox Creek Football

First-year head coach brings experience and a young roster to the 2026 season

A Fresh Coaching Era

David Sammons has stepped onto the sideline as the first-year head coach of the Fox Creek Predators, bringing with him a deep reservoir of experience from three seasons as offensive coordinator and a prior head-coaching stint at Richmond Academy in 2022.

The Predators open the 2026 campaign on the road against Orangeburg-Wilkinson, a matchup that will test a roster that is largely youthful, featuring only five seniors and a blend of freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

Early Tests on the Road

Historically, Fox Creek has enjoyed bursts of early-season success, posting a 9-1 record over the first five weeks in recent years, yet the team has struggled to translate that momentum into October victories, going winless in that month since 2019.

Sammons has repeatedly emphasized the need to draw on that experience, to confront the adversity that has defined the program’s recent narrative, and to use the early schedule as a laboratory for building chemistry.

Building Experience

With the coaching staff now in place and the players eager to prove themselves, the Predators hope to turn the promise of a strong start into a sustained push that can carry them through the later weeks of the season.
