Davion Thompson, a 6‑foot‑3 guard who starred for the MeanStreets on the Nike EYBL circuit, revealed that he will reclassify and join the Arkansas Razorbacks for the upcoming season.
The commitment, announced on June 10, places the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2027 class among the Razorbacks’ newest backcourt pieces, and he chose Arkansas over finalists Michigan, Vanderbilt and Baylor.
Thompson’s rise accelerated after he transferred to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, where he shed the role of primary ball‑handler he carried in Chicago and emerged as a more balanced floor general.
During the recent EYBL season he posted averages of 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 45.5 % from the field and 51.9 % from three‑point range, numbers that signal a ready‑to‑play skill set for the SEC.
A New Era for the Razorbacks
Arkansas also secured two portal additions — Cooper Bowser, a center from Furman University, and Jeremiah Wilkinson, a guard who transferred from the University of Georgia — while five other freshmen, including five‑star Jordan Smith and former 4‑star Mapper Maker, have pledged to the program.
Returning forward Paulo Semedo will be joined by wing Isaiah Sealy, who is sidelined by a knee injury that required surgery, and center Nick Pringle, whose eligibility has expired after the previous campaign.
The roster reshuffle comes as several key players — Meleek Thomas, Trevon Brazile and Darius Acuff — were selected in the NBA Draft, and prospects such as Karter Knox, D.J. Wagner, Karim Rtail, Jaden Karuletwa, Elmir Dzafic and Malique Ewin have entered the transfer portal, with Knox committing to Louisville, Wagner to Maryland and Dzafic to Connecticut.
Recruiting analyst Sam Kayser of League Ready highlighted Thompson’s ability to space the floor with his jump shot, noting that his versatility could reshape the Razorbacks’ offensive schemes.
