A Historic Season for the Beavers
Dax Whitney, a right‑handed pitcher from Blackfoot, Idaho, has been named a second‑team All‑American by D1Baseball.com, marking his sixth All‑American honor of the 2026 season and cementing his status as one of the nation’s most decorated collegiate pitchers.
The senior finished the campaign with a 6‑1 record and a 2.00 earned run average, striking out 104 batters over 63 innings while allowing just 42 hits and a .185 opponent batting average, resulting in a 0.95 WHIP.
His performance earned him first‑team All‑American selections from the College Baseball Foundation, Baseball America, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Perfect Game, as well as a nod from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Whitney joins an elite group of Oregon State players who have accumulated six All‑American honors, including Nick Madrigal, Jake Thompson, Adley Rutschman, Trevor Larnach, Jacob Melton, Cooper Hjerpe, and the earlier trailblazer Travis Bazzana.
The achievement also makes Whitney the first right‑handed pitcher in school history to earn All‑American honors in back‑to‑back seasons since Jonah Nickerson in 2005 and 2006, a milestone that highlights the program’s continued pipeline of elite talent.
Oregon State University celebrated the milestone, noting that the recognition reflects the university’s commitment to developing top‑level athletes who excel both on the mound and in the classroom.
