A busy June for the Flyers
Dayton Flyers coaches have been active throughout June, extending scholarship offers to five prospects who are part of the 2028 recruiting class. The moves are part of a broader effort to shape the roster that will eventually support the 2026‑27 season, giving the program a head start on building depth and talent.
The first offer in the cycle went to Tai Bell, a 6‑foot‑3 point guard from Florida, back in March 2025. Since then, the staff has added notable names such as Keonte Smith, a 6‑foot‑5 forward from Northridge High School in Dayton who is ranked second in Ohio and 65th nationally by ESPN.
Other recruits who received scholarships include Aaron Britt Jr., a 6‑foot‑0 point guard from The Villages Charter School in Florida, who also holds offers from Saint Louis and Florida International; Lleyton Leonard, a 6‑foot‑4 guard from Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona; and Dylan Zeigler, the top Ohio prospect in the class, a 6‑foot‑1 guard from Lutheran East High School in Cleveland who is ranked 46th nationally.
Additional commitments went to Brady Pettigrew, a 6‑foot‑3 guard from Bolingbrook High School in Illinois; Amarion Smith‑Holley, a 6‑foot‑1 point guard from Peoria, Illinois; and Xavier Jones, a 6‑foot‑4 guard from Westerville South High School in Ohio, who received an offer from Henderson on June 18.
The geographic spread of the offers — from Ohio and Florida to Arizona and Illinois — reflects the Flyers' strategy of tapping into high‑quality talent across the Midwest and beyond. By securing these prospects early, the program aims to create a competitive pipeline that can sustain success well into the next decade.
