DAZN has recently broadened its U.S. sports offering by signing a global distribution agreement with the 3ICE 3‑on‑3 hockey league, guaranteeing live streams of every match and the league’s first World Cup.
The 3ICE Deal and Its Implications
The league, founded in 2020 by reality‑TV producer E.J. Johnston and overseen by Hockey Hall of Fame coach Craig Patrick, previously aired on CBS Sports Network before the 2024 season was cancelled and its games were shifted to a patchwork of regional sports networks in 2025.
For DAZN, the partnership represents the latest in a series of moves aimed at carving out a foothold in a market where it has struggled to attract subscribers. The company also holds exclusive rights to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, has sealed a deal with Top Rank Boxing, and acquired the U.S. streaming platform ViewLift earlier this year.
While 3ICE is not considered a marquee league, hockey retains a strong fan base in the United States, and at least five former NHL players are currently on its rosters. Nonetheless, industry analysts say DAZN will need to secure more high‑profile rights, such as local NBA or NHL broadcasts, to become a true contender in the American market.
