A Recruit's Decision
David Folorunsho, a 6‑3, 280‑pound defensive lineman who starred at St. Patrick, announced his commitment to the University of Notre Dame for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Born in Nigeria and raised in the United States after moving at age eleven, he transitioned from soccer to football, quickly making a name for himself on the gridiron.
Ranked as the second‑best player in Illinois and the forty‑third overall prospect nationally, Folorunsho also sits at thirty‑second among defensive linemen, attracting more than thirty offers from Power Four programs including Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan.
His coach, Tom Zbikowski, praised his relentless work ethic and untapped potential, noting that the youngster’s size, technique and drive have already drawn national attention.
Off the field, Folorunsho highlighted Notre Dame’s academic reputation, especially the Mendoza College of Business, as a key factor in his decision, aiming to grow both as an athlete and a scholar.
He hopes to sharpen his skills during his final season with the Shamrocks, preparing for the next chapter of his football journey while pursuing a degree that will serve him beyond the sport.
