Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders announced a major recruiting victory on Wednesday, securing the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Li’Marcus Jones to the 2027 class.
Jones, a highly coveted prospect from the Southeast, chose the Buffaloes over scholarship offers from Georgia, Purdue and Mississippi State. In a statement, he highlighted the authentic relationships he built with the coaching staff and the program’s emerging culture as decisive factors.
A culture of connection drives the decision
The commitment comes as Colorado looks to rebound from a disappointing 2025 campaign that yielded just three wins and left the team out of the postseason. Athletic director Hayes Fawcett praised Sanders’ ability to attract top talent despite the program’s recent struggles.
Looking ahead, the Buffaloes are slated to open the 2026 season on September 3 against Georgia Tech, a matchup that could serve as an early barometer for the team’s progress under Sanders.
