Deonte Henderson, a Toledo native, has been appointed as the graduate assistant for the University of Toledo women's basketball program for the 2026‑27 season, bringing a blend of analytics expertise and playing experience back to his hometown.
A Homecoming for a Rising Coach
After four seasons with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, where he contributed to player development and operations, Henderson returns to Ohio after stints that included coaching Redondo Union High School in California and guiding the team to notable playoff runs.
His career in sports analytics spans multiple leagues, having managed live in‑game statistics and database preparation for NBA, MLS and Premier League broadcasts, a skill set he now hopes to translate into the collegiate setting.
Beyond the Court
Henderson recently launched Game Speed Development, a player‑development company, and earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2024. He and his wife Tori are parents to two daughters, Soraya and Phoenix.
Head Coach Ginny Boggess highlighted Henderson’s energy, pedigree and commitment to student‑athlete development, stating that his arrival aligns perfectly with the program’s mission.
Henderson expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing his alignment with the university’s mission and his desire to contribute to a high‑level competitive environment.
