DeSales University’s men’s soccer program entered the 2026 campaign with a modest but meaningful preseason accolade, sharing fifth place in the MAC Freedom poll with FDU‑Florham, each earning 27 points.
The poll, compiled by nine conference coaches, placed Stevens University at the summit with 64 points and eight first‑place votes, while Lebanon Valley College, Misericordia University and Arcadia University rounded out the top four.
A Coach With Deep Roots
Veteran head coach George Crampton, now in his 28th season, brings a career record of 246‑215‑45 and five MAC Freedom championships to the bench, having guided the Bulldogs to six NCAA Tournament appearances.
His long‑standing presence provides continuity and a winning culture that the team hopes to tap as it looks to improve on last year’s 4‑11‑3 record.
The returning core includes junior Peter Cardinale, who contributed three goals in the previous season, and sophomore Jacob Stewart, who dished out five assists, forming a familiar attacking duo.
Additional stalwarts such as sophomore Landon Lentz, junior Larry Sullivan and sophomore Nik Rohm, who each started 16 of 18 games last year, are expected to provide depth and experience across the midfield and defense.
The Bulldogs will open the season at home against Gwynedd‑Mercy University on September 1, then host Salisbury University on Homecoming weekend, September 26, with seven of their first nine matches scheduled on familiar turf.
Their schedule also features a home clash with FDU‑Florham on October 3, setting up an early test against the team they tied for fifth in the poll.
With a blend of veteran leadership and fresh talent, the Bulldogs hope to climb higher in the MAC Freedom standings and return to the NCAA Tournament picture.
