Detroit City FC announced that midfielders Duane Daniels and Maxwell Murray will work alongside the grassroots organization Occupy The Summer to bring soccer programs to neighborhoods across the city.
Both players, who have been with Detroit City FC for several seasons, say the partnership reflects their commitment to using the game as a tool for social good. "Soccer has the power to unite people, and we want to make sure every kid in Detroit can experience that," Daniels said in a statement.
The initiative aims to grow the sport at the grassroots level, offering free clinics, equipment drives and mentorship opportunities for young athletes who might otherwise lack access to organized play.
Building a Sustainable Soccer Culture
Organizers plan to host a series of summer camps and community tournaments, leveraging the expertise of the professional players to coach and inspire participants. The effort also includes partnerships with local schools and recreation centers to embed soccer into after‑school programs.
