The New Jersey Devils have unveiled a series of appointments that reshape their coaching and development staff for the upcoming season, signaling a focused effort to deepen their player‑development pipeline.
A New Era of Goaltending Leadership
Leo Luongo, a veteran of the goaltending world, has been named Director of Goaltending. In that role he will coordinate all goaltending activities, working closely with the team’s scouts and player development staff, and he will report directly to legendary net‑minder Martin Brodeur.
Veteran Presence on the Bench
Ted Donato, who spent 22 seasons as head coach at Harvard University, arrives as an assistant coach. His 334 career wins make him the most victorious head coach in Harvard history, and his international experience includes representing the United States as both a player and a coach.
AJ MacLean also joins the staff, bringing a blend of AHL and OHL experience. Since 2023‑24 he has served as an assistant with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s affiliate in Syracuse, where he helped shape the development of several prospects.
Completing the group, Dan Stewart, a goaltending coach with six seasons in the St. Louis Blues organization, will focus on refining the team’s net‑minders and integrating modern training methods.
