The New Jersey Devils announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed forward Marc McLaughlin to a one-year, two-way contract for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The agreement guarantees $850,000 if he earns a spot on the NHL roster, while a $350,000 salary will apply should he remain with the club’s AHL affiliate.
General Manager Sunny Mehta and assistant general manager Braden Birch highlighted the move as a continuation of the forward’s development within the organization.
McLaughlin, 26, returned to competition on February 15, 2026, suiting up for Utica of the American Hockey League after recovering from an upper-body injury that sidelined him for much of the previous campaign.
In his first game back, he posted a season-high three points — one goal and two assists — helping the Comets secure a win.
The trade that brought him to New Jersey on March 7, 2025, marked a turning point in his career, as he finished the 2024-25 season with two appearances for the Devils and 16 games with Utica.
Across four NHL seasons spent entirely with Boston, he appeared in 26 games and scored six goals, while his AHL tenure includes 208 games and 78 points.
A native of North Billerica, Massachusetts, McLaughlin honed his game at Boston College before signing with the Bruins as an undrafted free agent in March 2022.
A Look Back at Marc McLaughlin's Career
He captained the Eagles during his junior and senior years, amassing 76 points in 130 collegiate contests and later adding a playoff goal for Providence in the Calder Cup.
The Devils’ decision underscores a commitment to nurturing talent that has already shown the ability to contribute at both the NHL and AHL levels.
