A milestone in the making
Veteran forward DeWanna Bonner has moved up to seventh place on the WNBA’s all‑time steals chart after a recent performance against the Los Angeles Sparks, a testament to her defensive consistency and longevity in the league.
Her impact extends beyond the stat sheet; Bonner also ranks third all‑time in points with 7,871 and sits eighth in rebounds with 3,242, underscoring a career that blends scoring, rebounding and playmaking.
Over the years she has represented the Phoenix Mercury, the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever, capturing two WNBA championships with the Mercury and consistently ranking among the league’s most influential players.
Back in familiar territory
After a stint away, Bonner rejoined the Mercury on July 8, 2025, bringing her veteran presence back to a franchise that has been a cornerstone of her professional journey.
Drafted fifth overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft, she honed her game at Auburn University, where she earned multiple All‑SEC honors, including three first‑team selections and the SEC Player of the Year, before launching an international career in the Czech Republic, Spain and Russia.
Her blend of scoring, rebounding and defensive skill continues to influence younger players, and as she steps back onto the Mercury’s court, fans can expect another chapter of durability and production from one of the league’s most enduring stars.
