Dextavion Reese Commits to Rutgers Football, Adding Size to 2027 Secondary

The Georgia safety’s decision follows an official visit and makes him the third safety pledge in the Scarlet Knights’ upcoming class.

A Strategic Addition for the Scarlet Knights

Dextavion Reese, a towering safety out of Hephzibah High School in Georgia, stands at 6‑foot‑4 and combines length with athletic flexibility, traits that have drawn attention from several Power Five programs.

The recruit took his first official visit to Rutgers over the weekend, where he met with coaches and toured the facilities, and subsequently declared his commitment to the Scarlet Knights, becoming the third safety pledge in the 2027 class.

Rutgers extended an offer to Reese on April 3, and the visit marked a culmination of a recruiting process that also included unofficial trips to Clemson and Nebraska, as well as offers from Georgia Tech, South Florida, Connecticut and Coastal Carolina.

Although currently unranked, Reese expects to receive a formal rating before his senior season, a milestone that could further elevate his profile among national prospects.

His addition addresses a need for depth and versatility in the secondary, giving the Scarlet Knights a physical presence that could reshape defensive schemes in the coming years.
