Diana Szakolczi Commits to Southeastern Louisiana Women’s Basketball

The Hungarian forward brings junior‑college experience and versatility to the Lady Lions for the 2026‑27 season.

Southeastern Louisiana University has announced the signing of Diana Szakolczi, a 6‑0 forward from Budapest, Hungary, to its 2026‑27 women’s basketball roster.

During the 2025‑26 season she played for Midland College, where she posted a 13.4 points‑per‑game average and pulled down 4.8 rebounds per contest, starting every one of the team’s 29 games.

Her performances earned her a spot on the Western Junior College Athletic Conference All‑Conference First Team and she reached a career‑high 28 points in a victory.

Versatility and Experience

Head coach Jeff Dow praised her ability to play multiple positions and emphasized the value of her junior‑college experience under the tutelage of Ron Jones, a coach with more than 700 career wins and a track record of developing dozens of Division I athletes.

Szakolczi joins a signing class that already includes Lillian Merow and Shaine Parker, bringing the total number of new recruits to six and adding depth to the Lady Lions’ frontcourt.

The coaching staff believes her skill set will add depth and flexibility to the lineup as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
