Diego Mulford, a 6‑foot‑3 guard from American Fork High School in Utah, has officially signed with the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) for the 2026‑27 season, marking a homecoming that blends family legacy with fresh ambition.
Mulford arrives in Twin Falls after a two‑year hiatus spent on a missionary assignment for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints. The pause did not dull his shooting touch; rather, it sharpened his focus, allowing him to return with a refined work ethic and a clear sense of purpose.
A Sharpshooter’s Proven Record
During his high school tenure, Mulford posted a 51 percent three‑point percentage and an astonishing 90 percent free‑throw rate, numbers that place him among the top ten career three‑point makers in Utah history. His consistency earned him First Team All‑Region honors twice and two Offensive Player of the Year awards, while also guiding his team to back‑to‑back region championships and a 6A state semifinal appearance.
Beyond raw numbers, Mulford’s impact is measured in energy he brings to the floor. Teammates and coaches alike note his relentless hustle, defensive intensity, and ability to stretch the floor, traits that align perfectly with CSI’s evolving style under head coach Jeff Reinert.
Family ties add another layer of significance to the commitment. Mulford’s father, Jordan Mulford, once played under Reinert at Utah Valley University, creating a direct link between the Mulford lineage and the CSI program. This connection has been a quiet but powerful motivator for Diego as he looks to honor both his father’s and his coach’s legacies.
Looking ahead, Mulford says his primary goal is to contribute immediately while continuing to develop his game. "I want to bring energy, work hard, and help the team win," he explained, emphasizing that the next season will be a proving ground for both his shooting and his leadership.
