A Perfect Run
Dillon's baseball team closed out the regular season with a convincing 9-2 triumph over Lone Peak, cementing a flawless record of 17 wins, one tie and no losses. The victory not only extended their unbeaten streak but also underscored the team's depth, as six different players drove in runs throughout the game.
The offense exploded early, plating seven runs in the opening inning and building a commanding lead that never slipped. Sawyer Tacket paced the attack with three hits, including a triple, on four at-bats, while the team out-hit Lone Peak 7-3 overall.
Steen Mitchell contributed an RBI for the opposition, but the spotlight remained on Dillon's balanced lineup and disciplined pitching. The win marked the culmination of a season that saw the squad navigate a lone tie against Class AA Missoula Big Sky.
Looking Ahead to Polson
With the regular season in the books, Dillon will now turn its attention to the State AB tournament, scheduled to take place in Polson from May 28 through May 30. The upcoming event will bring together the state's top teams, and Dillon's perfect record positions them as a formidable contender.
Lone Peak, meanwhile, will finish the season with a 2-8 ledger, reflecting a challenging year for the Big Horns. Despite the loss, the experience gained will serve as a building block for future campaigns.
