Dionna Gray, a graduate assistant at Kent State University, was recently presented with the Chief Dean P. Tondiglia Humanitarian Award, a honor created in 2024 to celebrate the legacy of the university’s retiring police chief and director of public safety.
The award underscores Gray’s commitment to compassion and leadership, qualities she has demonstrated through her work as a Team Impact Fellow, where she has organized events and fundraising initiatives that have amplified the organization’s reach.
Leadership Beyond the Court
Beyond her academic and athletic pursuits, Gray served on the executive leadership team of the Student‑Athlete Advisory Committee, where she helped shape policies that support student‑athletes’ holistic development. Her involvement with Team Impact extended to national platforms, allowing Kent State to showcase its commitment to community engagement on a broader stage.
Gray’s accolades also include the Judith K. Devine Excellence in Leadership Award and two‑time Academic All‑Mid‑American Conference honors, reflecting a blend of scholarly excellence and athletic dedication.
A two‑time Academic All‑Mid‑American Conference honoree, she earned her undergraduate degree in public health in May and is now pursuing a master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, continuing to build on a foundation of service.
