Dominic Berrios Joins Portland Pilots Men’s Soccer for 2026 Season

The freshman forward brings WCC accolades and professional experience to a program that reached the Elite Eight last year

Dominic Berrios, a forward who earned All‑WCC Freshman Team honors while playing for the Pacific Tigers, has signed with the Portland Pilots Men’s Soccer program for the 2026 season. His collegiate career included 1,176 minutes of play in which he recorded a goal and three assists, showcasing both scoring ability and playmaking versatility.

A blend of college and professional experience

Berrios spent two seasons with Real Monarchs in the MLS NextPro league, making 16 appearances across that period. The stint in the professional ranks gave him exposure to a higher tempo of play and helped refine his tactical understanding, attributes he is expected to bring to Portland’s attacking unit.

Portland head coach Nick Carlin‑Voigt expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, stating that Berrios combines the technical skills of a collegiate standout with the grit of professional experience. The coach highlighted the player’s potential to deepen the squad’s options and to compete at the highest level within the West Coast Conference.

The Pilots’ recent performance underscores the program’s upward trajectory. The team posted a 14‑2‑4 record, the best winning percentage since 1988, and earned the eighth seed in the NCAA Tournament before advancing to the Elite Eight. During that run the Pilots were ranked in the top ten nationally for several weeks, even holding the No. 1 position.

That success has been accompanied by a steady pipeline of talent to professional soccer. Over the past three seasons, eight Pilots players have been selected in the MLS SuperDraft, and three have earned invitations to U.S. Men’s National Team camps. The arrival of Berrios is seen as the next step in maintaining that momentum.
