Dominique Ford, a Las Vegas native and former standout at Desert Oasis High School, is back in his hometown to share the game he loves after completing his collegiate career at the University of San Diego.
The free basketball camp, organized by the nonprofit Affect The Youth, took place at the Pearson Community Center in North Las Vegas, drawing dozens of young athletes eager for instruction and mentorship.
A Vision Beyond the Game
Ford, who now plays guard for the University of San Diego, said the event is about more than drills; it’s about building relationships and giving back to the community that shaped him.
His mother serves on the board of Affect The Youth, a connection that underscores the family’s long‑standing commitment to youth development.
Having traveled out of state for similar camps as a kid, Ford understands the transformative power of such programs and wants to replicate that experience locally.
He stresses that his role is to be a mentor and role model, believing that the work he does is bigger than himself.
