Don Football Camp is currently in session at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, where children from first through sixth grade are gathering to learn the fundamentals of the game.
Through a series of tire drills and six‑on‑six scrimmages, the campers are not only sharpening their techniques but also building camaraderie on the field.
A Coach’s Fifth Summer
Head coach Eric Mims Sr., who has helmed the camp for five consecutive summers, watches the progress with a proud smile, noting how each season brings new growth to the youngsters.
Mims emphasizes that the camp’s primary goal is to spark a lasting passion for football, a mission that has resonated with participants and parents alike.
Looking ahead, the program will host a second session from July 27 to 30 for seventh through ninth graders, extending the opportunity for older youth to develop their skills in a structured environment.
