A temporary home for the Eagles
Dover High School’s football team will open its 2026 home schedule at Marshwood High School on September 18, facing Winnacunnet before moving to Spaulding High School on September 25 for a matchup with Keene and then to Exeter High School on October 9 to play Exeter.
The temporary venues are a direct result of ongoing construction at Dunaway Field, the school’s outdoor athletic complex that is undergoing an $18 million renovation.
The overhaul includes new turf, track facilities and other upgrades, with turf installation slated for late August and track work beginning in early September. Full access to the field, however, is not expected until the fall of 2026.
While the new surface is being installed, the soccer squad practices on Bellamy Field and the field hockey team continues on Fisk Field, both part of the school’s athletic complex.
City Councilor Fergus Cullen, who chairs the Joint Building Committee overseeing the project, has repeatedly emphasized that the work remains on schedule and within budget, expressing confidence that a playable field will be ready for the fall season.
In addition to the field improvements, the school is preparing to move into a new building on the site, with plans to demolish the existing structure in the coming weeks.
