Drew Brees, the longtime New Orleans Saints quarterback, was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, capping a career that redefined quarterback play in the modern era.
His journey began on the fields of Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, where he led his team to a state championship before earning a scholarship at Purdue University.
After a standout college stint, Brees entered the NFL and spent fifteen seasons guiding the Saints, amassing 80,358 passing yards and 571 touchdowns, numbers that placed him at the top of the franchise’s record books.
During his induction speech he paid tribute to former head coach Sean Payton and team owner Gayle Benson, emphasizing the deep bonds forged over years of shared triumphs and challenges.
He reflected on his emotional connection to New Orleans, stating that love for the city is reciprocated, a sentiment that resonated with fans who have watched his career unfold.
Although his records have since been surpassed, Brees remains the NFL leader in seasons with 5,000 passing yards and holds the unbroken streak of 54 consecutive games with a touchdown from 2009 to 2012.
