Drew LaComb has been named the new head coach of the Air Force Academy’s baseball program, stepping into a role that builds on three seasons as an assistant.
A New Era for Air Force Baseball
His background includes a successful tenure at Regis University, where he led the Rangers to three consecutive RMAC Tournament appearances and a 2023 championship, finishing with an 87‑77‑1 record.
Before that, LaComb played at Regis and at Mesa Community College, contributing to a NJCAA Division II national championship team and posting a .361 career batting average.
He describes his coaching philosophy as one that uses baseball to teach character and leadership, while cadets juggle academics, military training and sport.
Former head coach Mike Kazlausky highlighted LaComb’s fit with the academy’s mission, emphasizing his ability to develop future officers and warfighters.
Under his leadership, the team captured its first Mountain West regular‑season championship and saw five players earn All‑Mountain West honors, including the conference’s co‑player of the year.
Looking forward, LaComb is focused on sustaining the program’s growth and on shaping cadets into leaders who will serve as officers in the Air Force.
