Drew Pool Takes the Helm of Trigg County Girls Basketball

Former Wildcat star returns to lead program after Greg Stephens' departure

Trigg County High School has named Drew Pool as its new girls basketball coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season, filling the vacancy left by Greg Stephens, who stepped down after the 2025-26 campaign.

A Homecoming for a Wildcat Legend

Pool, a 2008 graduate of Trigg County High School, returns to the program where he once starred as a multi‑sport athlete. He played football, basketball, baseball and powerlifting before continuing his education at the University of Cumberlands.

His coaching résumé includes stints as an assistant on both the boys and girls basketball staffs at Todd County Central and Russellville High School, as well as a recent role with the AAU Vette City Bulls in Bowling Green. Those experiences have equipped him with a blend of tactical insight and player development focus.

Greg Stephens guided the team to a 12‑14 record in the 2025-26 season before resigning, opening the door for Pool to bring his own vision and energy to the program. Athletic director Karen Mitchell expressed confidence that Pool’s deep familiarity with the school and his proven leadership will help the team aim for a stronger finish next year.
