Dubai Basketball announced this week that it has reached an agreement with American guard Davion Mintz, securing the 28‑year‑old for the upcoming 2026‑27 EuroLeague season on a multi‑year contract.
A Strategic Signing for Dubai Basketball
The Gulf club believes the versatile backcourt player will add depth and scoring punch to a roster that aims to compete at the highest European level.
From Würzburg to the Gulf
Mintz arrives after a standout season with Würzburg Baskets in Germany, where he posted 16.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in the domestic league and similar numbers in the Basketball Champions League.
His shooting range proved decisive, as he averaged 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the European competition, showcasing a knack for stretching the floor and creating opportunities for teammates.
A Versatile Threat
The guard’s professional journey began in the United States, where he played college basketball at Creighton University before transferring to the University of Kentucky, before embarking on a path that took him to the NBA G League, brief stints in the Dominican Republic with Metros de Santiago, and a season in Belgium with Filou Oostende.
Known for his ability to play both point guard and shooting guard, Mintz brings a blend of size at 191 cm, quickness and a reliable three‑point shot that should complement Dubai’s existing backcourt.
Looking Ahead
Club officials highlighted that his experience across multiple basketball cultures equips him to adapt quickly to the European style of play, making him a valuable asset as the team looks to strengthen its playoff push. The signing marks a clear intent by Dubai Basketball to blend youthful energy with seasoned know‑how, positioning the franchise for a competitive showing in the EuroLeague and beyond.
