A Family Connection in the Spotlight
Duke University’s basketball program has turned its attention to Kager Knueppel, a 4‑star recruit in the class of 2027 who hails from Wisconsin Lutheran. The Blue Devils extended an offer to the young forward in April, marking the first 2027 prospect they have targeted in this recruiting cycle.
Kager’s older brother, Kon Knueppel, was selected fourth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets and has already made an impact in his rookie season, averaging 18.5 points per game and setting a rookie record with 273 three‑pointers made. The elder Knueppel’s success has added a familial narrative to Kager’s recruitment story.
While the connection to Duke is evident, Kager stresses that he is exploring every avenue before making a decision. He holds additional offers from Toledo, DePaul, Purdue and Wisconsin, and he remains open to official visits from each program.
Coach Jon Scheyer, now in his second year at the helm of the Blue Devils, has positioned the offer as part of a broader strategy to bolster the frontcourt. The recruitment also brings attention to other emerging talents, such as Beckham Black and Anthony Black, who are being monitored across the high school circuit.
Ranked No. 79 overall and No. 11 among power forwards, Kager’s profile aligns with Duke’s need for versatile scoring options. The pursuit of his commitment reflects a shifting landscape where family ties and early exposure to high‑level competition intersect with traditional recruiting pipelines.
