Dylan Eskew, a former South Carolina Gamecocks pitcher who completed his college career from 2023 to 2025, is set to rejoin the university staff as an assistant coach focusing on pitching development under new head coach Kevin Schnall.
A Strategic Homecoming
Eskew’s collegiate résumé includes 34 appearances, 24 starts, a 5.02 earned run average and 80 strikeouts, figures that underscored his reliability on the mound and attracted interest from several programs before he ultimately chose the University of Miami for his freshman season.
After a brief but impactful year at Miami, he transferred to Chipola College, where he continued to refine his craft before assuming the role of director of pitching development at Coastal Carolina University in 2026, a position he secured after a recommendation from Matt Williams.
During his tenure at Coastal Carolina, Eskew not only coordinated pitching strategies but also served as the pitching coach during a game against North Carolina, demonstrating his ability to lead under pressure.
Goals for the Gamecocks
His return to Columbia marks an increased involvement in recruiting, as he will assist Schnall and also run the bullpen, aiming to restore the Gamecocks to the prominence they enjoyed in earlier eras.
Eskew has articulated a clear vision of rebuilding the program, drawing on his experiences both as a player and a coach, and emphasized collaboration with the existing staff to develop future talent.
