Dylynn Groves, a 6‑foot‑5 guard from Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, has officially signed with the University of Idaho men’s basketball team, becoming the fifth high school recruit for the Vandals’ 2026‑27 class.
Despite a senior season marked by lingering injuries, Groves proved his impact by scoring 32 points in just nine minutes during his second game back, a performance that helped Gonzaga Prep reach the state title game and earned him First Team All‑League honors in the Greater Spokane League.
Head coach Alex Pribble highlighted the player’s competitiveness, noting that Groves brings a blend of skill and toughness that aligns with the program’s vision.
A Family Legacy in the Paint
Groves joins a family lineage in college basketball; his brothers Jacob and Tanner have each made notable strides, with Jacob averaging over 17 points and six rebounds at the FIBA Europe Cup in 2025 and Tanner currently playing professionally for Nagasaki Velca in Japan.
The addition of Groves comes as the Vandals continue to reshape their roster, welcoming four other freshmen and five transfers, bringing the total scholarship count to 14 players for the upcoming season.
Coach Pribble’s praise underscores the expectation that Groves will contribute immediately, both on the court and as a recruiting asset for future classes.
