EA Sports has officially reversed its stance on microtransactions in College Football 27, pulling the paid progression features from the game’s Dynasty and Road to Glory modes.
The decision follows a massive backlash from fans and content creators who flooded social media with the hashtag #CFBPlayDontPay, demanding that the publisher scrap the controversial monetisation scheme.

Fans organized around the hashtag to voice their frustration, arguing that the ability to spend real money to instantly boost a coach or player undermined the spirit of offline, single‑player competition.
EA acknowledged that the microtransactions did not provide the intended value and confirmed that all paid advancement options will be removed, though players who already hold College Point balances will see those funds rendered useless.
The removal also wipes out the experience sliders that had let players manually adjust how much experience they earned, making monetary spending the only way to speed up progression.
EA hinted that microtransactions could return in future editions, but promised a more transparent approach to content delivery and communication with the community.
