A fresh voice in the virtual booth
EA Sports has unveiled a suite of gameplay updates for College Football 27, slated for release on July 9, and among the most talked‑about changes is a new broadcast crew that will accompany the on‑field action.
Longtime voice Kirk Herbstreit will be replaced by Joel Klatt, a former Colorado quarterback who now serves as a top analyst for Fox Sports. The swap is notable not only for its professional implications but also because it pits Fox against ESPN, the network that previously employed Herbstreit.
Fans will have the ability to select their preferred commentary team in the game’s ‘play now’ mode, and the developers have earmarked a special pairing — Klatt alongside veteran broadcaster Chris Fowler — as the ‘Big Game Team.’
The core broadcast trio of Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer and David Pollack will return, with ESPN’s Holly Rowe joining as the new sideline reporter, adding another layer of depth to the virtual telecast.
Colorado roots fuel the excitement
The connection to the state extends beyond nostalgia; both analysts grew up watching the Buffaloes and have spoken about how their collegiate experiences shape their perspective on the sport. Their presence in the game is being highlighted as a nod to the local fan base that has long followed their careers.
