A Close Contest on the Field
The Morehead State women's soccer team opened its 2025 preseason with a narrow victory over Ohio, finishing a series of exhibition matches that have become a tradition between the two programs.
Despite being outshot in both total attempts and shots on target, the Eagles managed to secure the win, a result that underscores the team's ability to capitalize on limited chances.
Junior forward Ashton Lynam led the attack with four attempts, three of which landed on frame, while fellow junior Ava Peck added three shots of her own, providing a spark that helped the hosts maintain pressure.
Between the posts, redshirt sophomore Allie Lammers made four saves before being replaced by freshman Amira Hendrick, who contributed her own stop in the second half, while Ohio’s netminders Ayla Rammer and Bella Wyatt each kept a clean sheet in their respective halves.
The match also featured a tactical battle, with Ohio holding possession for 52 percent of the time compared to Morehead State’s 51 percent, and the Eagles earning the only yellow card of the game.
Looking ahead, the Eagles will travel to face Marshall on August 13 before opening their home schedule against Brescia on August 16, marking the culmination of a preseason that ends with a 1‑1 record.
