Eagles extend unbeaten home run with historic shutout of Northern Kentucky

Sophomore duo strike as Morehead State prepares for a lengthy home stretch

Morehead State's soccer squad secured a 2-0 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday, marking the Eagles' third consecutive win on their home turf and extending an unbeaten streak that now spans four matches.

A night of milestones

Sophomore forward Charlotte Lee opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading home a corner delivery to put the hosts ahead. Ten minutes after the break, Jade Walton added a second goal with a striking effort from outside the box, sealing a comfortable lead.

The Eagles dominated possession for 70 percent of the opening 25 minutes and held a 57 percent share for the entire first half, while goalkeeper Allie Lammers made nine saves, tying for first in the Ohio Valley Conference for shutouts and ranking second in saves.

Defensively, the back line of Hannah Carter and Molly Tapak limited Northern Kentucky to a single late chance, blocking a second‑half attempt that could have narrowed the margin. Brett Ekperuoh's set‑piece work has now produced four corner‑derived goals this season, including the one that opened the scoring.

The win sets up a four‑game home stand, the longest in nine seasons, with the next fixture scheduled for Thursday against Mercyhurst. In addition, the university will host Faculty Appreciation Day, offering free admission to staff and faculty.
