East District Baseball Honors Celebrate Local Talent Across Divisions

Top players from Big Red, Indian Creek and other schools earn Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and all‑district selections

The East District recently unveiled its all‑district teams, a testament to a season filled with grit, skill and community pride. The Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association, the governing body behind the selections, praised the depth of talent that spread across Division III through VII, underscoring the region’s growing baseball pedigree.

Division III Highlights

AJ Borsch of Big Red stood out as the Player of the Year in Division III, capping a season that also saw him headline a first‑team lineup that included Matt Fabbro, Sylus Hyde and Hunter Rusnak. Their collective presence signaled a dominant showing for the local program, while Gavin Pownall and Royal Mayo earned second‑team honors, further illustrating the district’s balanced strength.

Cole Bowers, also from Big Red, received an honorable mention, marking his fourth all‑district accolade across multiple sports and cementing his reputation as a versatile athlete. The coaching staff was not overlooked, as John Zeigler from Indian Creek was named Assistant Coach of the Year in Division III, reflecting the importance of leadership behind the scenes.

Broader District Recognition

Beyond Division III, the awards rippled through the lower divisions. In Division IV, Edison celebrated three seniors — Nolan Haught, Kyle Long and Evan Kimmerle — on the first team, while Daniel Divjak of Buckeye Local joined them as another first‑team pick. Bryce Rogers and Coop Baker from Edison secured second‑team spots, and Jordan Kovalski alongside Dugan Dobrovich from Buckeye Local earned honorable mentions.

Division V saw Harrison Central contribute two first‑team members, Gage Stoneking and Lance Smith, with Kolton Mizer landing on the second team and Colson Crothers receiving an honorable mention. In Division VI, the Toronto squad boasted Michael Henry and Drake Bouscher on the first team, while Tanner Newbold and Max Rebich were placed on the second team.

Division VII featured Catholic Central’s Zach Bryan and Matthew Jones on the first team, with Tommy Symington earning second‑team honors and Jojo Corabi rounding out the list as an honorable mention. Across all divisions, the pattern of repeated excellence suggests a deep talent pool nurtured by local programs and supportive coaching networks.

The recognition extends beyond individual accolades, reflecting a community-wide commitment to athletic development. As the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association continues to spotlight these achievements, the spotlight also shines on the schools, families and fans who have cheered each milestone. The upcoming season promises to build on this momentum, with many of the honored players poised to lead their teams toward new victories.
