East High School’s soccer team clinched the 4A state championship on Saturday, edging Murray 2-1 at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah.
The win served as a revenge match, reversing earlier defeats to Murray and delivering the program’s first title in twenty years, a moment that left the senior players visibly emotional.

Coach Javier Viana, who has steered the team through a rebuilding period, praised the squad’s perseverance and emphasized the importance of senior leadership in the comeback.
Senior midfielder Adam Mikulich, who had been a constant presence throughout the season, delivered the winning goal in the closing minutes, a play that ignited a wave of celebration among teammates and fans alike.
