East Texas A&M Announces 2026‑27 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Schedules

Season opens in early December with conference play leading to a Lake Charles tournament and NCAA Tournament berths

East Texas A&M University has released its 2026‑27 men’s and women’s basketball schedules, outlining a full slate of 22 conference games that will test both squads against a competitive Southland field.

Opening the Season

The men’s team opens on December 5 with a home clash against defending champion Stephen F. Austin, while the women’s squad begins a day earlier on the road at Lamar in Beaumont.

Throughout December the Lions will host Southeastern Louisiana on the 19th and McNeese on the 21st, giving the home crowd early chances to see the team in action.

January Road Trips

January brings a series of road tests, starting with a trip to LSU‑New Orleans on the 4th and a showdown at Texas A&M‑Corpus Christi on the 11th for the men, while the women will welcome UIW on the 14th and HCU on the 16th before heading out to face SFA on the 28th and Lamar again on the 30th.

Tournament and NCAA Path

The Southland Conference Tournament will be held in Lake Charles, Louisiana, from March 7 to 10, and the champion of that event will automatically secure an NCAA Tournament berth, setting the stage for March Madness.

The men’s Final Four is slated for April 3‑5 in Detroit, Ohio, while the women’s counterpart will take place in Columbus, Ohio, from April 2‑4, giving both programs a chance to compete on the national stage.

The regular season will close with the men hosting UTRGV on February 28 and Texas A&M‑Corpus Christi on March 1, and the women concluding at home against McNeese on March 2, before the NCAA’s First Four begins on March 16 in Dayton, Ohio, or Wichita, Kansas.
