Panthers Gear Up for Fall Scrimmages
Eastern Illinois University’s baseball program is set to kick off its fall preseason with a series of four scrimmages that will test the squad’s depth and chemistry before the official campaign begins.
Three of those contests will be played on the familiar turf of Coaches Stadium in Charleston, giving the Panthers a chance to fine‑tune their routines in front of home‑crowd energy. The first home matchup arrives on September 26, when the team welcomes Bradley University, followed by a showdown against Lewis University on October 9, and a final home game against Lake Land on October 23.
The lone road test will take the Panthers to face Southern Illinois on October 16, a venue that promises a different atmosphere and a chance to gauge the team’s ability to adapt on the fly.
Coach Anderson Announces the Plan
Head Coach Jason Anderson said the schedule was designed to blend competitive matchups with developmental opportunities, emphasizing that each scrimmage will serve as a building block for the upcoming season. “We’re looking to see how our pitchers handle pressure and how our hitters respond to varied pitching styles,” Anderson explained.
Fans can expect a lively atmosphere as the team opens its doors to the community, with each game offering a preview of the talent and strategy that will define the Panthers’ spring slate.
