Eastern Illinois University’s baseball program is celebrating a notable achievement as three of its recent alumni have been selected as All-Stars in the summer collegiate baseball circuits.
James Love, who suits up for the Upper Valley Nighthawks of the New England College Baseball League, has been a driving force at the plate, posting a .381 batting average, nine doubles and 27 runs batted in while leading the league in several offensive categories.
On the mound, Nolan Decker has emerged as a reliable arm for the Kokomo Creek Chubs of the Prospect League, compiling a 2‑2 record, one save, a 3.60 earned‑run average and 27 strikeouts across 25 innings of work.
Summer League Accolades
Gavin Parkerson, meanwhile, has been equally impressive for the Bismarck Larks in the Northwoods League, posting a 1‑0 record, four saves, a 1.72 ERA and 23 strikeouts in just 15.2 innings, a performance that has already attracted attention from his home school.
Parkerson is set to join the Panthers this fall after completing his stint at Parkland College, bringing a proven track record of clutch relief appearances and a low ERA to the Eastern Illinois pitching staff.
The trio’s recognitions underscore the competitiveness of the university’s baseball program and suggest a promising depth of talent that could translate into strong performances on the national stage.
