Eastern Washington University’s women’s ice hockey program continues to dominate, improving to a flawless 5‑0 start after a 2‑0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield.
First‑Career Goals Light Up the Scoreboard
Freshman forward Deanna Montero opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, firing a right‑footed shot into the top‑right corner to put the Eagles ahead.
Midway through the second half, Delaney Deckett capitalized on a Raczykowski shot, adding her own first career goal to extend the lead to 2‑0.
Goaltending and Coach’s Praise
Net‑minder Payton Hyde turned away seven shots, including three in the latter half, preserving the shutout and earning commendation from head coach Missy Strasburg, who highlighted Montero’s technical skill and spatial awareness.
The Eagles are set to host Wyoming on Senior Day, September 6 at 1:00 p.m., an event that will honor the graduating class while the team looks to maintain its unbeaten streak.
