A Victory That Unites the Community
The Eastside Timbers girls soccer team celebrated a milestone this spring as they captured the 2026 Oregon Youth Soccer Association State Cup, a triumph that resonated throughout East Multnomah County and beyond.
Comprised of some of the region’s most dedicated young athletes, the squad has grown from a modest grassroots program into a powerhouse that now fields over 2,800 youth players across the area.
Road Ahead: National Tournaments
With the state title secured, the team has earned invitations to two prestigious national events — one in Tennessee and another in California — where they will face elite competition on a continental stage.
Coach Maya Hernandez expressed confidence in the players, noting that the upcoming tournaments represent both a test of skill and an opportunity to showcase the talent emerging from the Portland metropolitan region.
To make the trips possible, the organization has launched a GoFundMe campaign aimed at covering travel, accommodation, and equipment costs. Early contributions have already begun to pour in from local businesses, families, and longtime supporters.
The fundraising effort underscores the community‑driven nature of Eastside Timbers, a nonprofit that relies on volunteer coaches, parent volunteers, and generous donors to sustain its programs.
Beyond the scoresheet, the team’s success reflects a broader mission: to provide accessible soccer opportunities for children throughout East Multnomah County, fostering teamwork, discipline, and lifelong friendships.
