A vibrant tribute to soccer and heritage
The mural, titled “Dos Naciones, Una Pasion,” will soon dominate a wall along the downtown Kansas City streetcar corridor, turning the area into a permanent cultural landmark and a favorite spot for photos.
Created by Ecuadorian‑born artist MisterAlek, the artwork will intertwine an Ecuadorian player with a portrait of Lionel Messi, linking the nation’s football passion with global star power.
Preparation work is already underway, and painting is slated to begin on June 10, just days before the public reveal scheduled for June 15 or 16, coinciding with the first World Cup match at Kansas City Stadium.
Connecting continents through art
The project aims to forge a visual bridge between Ecuador and Kansas City, celebrating the city’s growing soccer community while offering a striking backdrop for fans arriving for the 2026 tournament.
City officials expect the mural to become a lasting symbol of cultural exchange, drawing visitors long after the World Cup matches conclude.
The inaugural match at Kansas City Stadium, featuring Argentina and Algeria, will take place on June 16, adding a timely backdrop to the mural’s debut.
