Ed Kirk has stepped into the role of head coach for the Beaverton High boys basketball team, bringing a blend of championship pedigree and fresh energy to the program.
A Fresh Perspective for the Beavers
Before joining the Metro League powerhouse, Kirk spent eight years at Oregon Episcopal School, where his squads compiled a 132‑win stretch, captured a state championship in 2020 and earned five appearances at the pinnacle of Oregon high school basketball.
Reflecting on the move, Kirk said he is eager to test his strategies against the state’s elite competition, noting that the transition from a 3A program to the 6A level presents both a challenge and an opportunity to grow.
The Metro League, widely regarded as one of the most competitive conferences in Oregon, will test the Beavers each night, and Kirk is already plotting ways to make his mark on the league’s storied history.
Kirk also highlighted the supportive reception he and his family have received from the Beaverton community, a factor that has reinforced his commitment to building a sustainable winning culture.
With his daughter already playing for Mountainside High, Kirk sees the next generation of talent up close, and he is optimistic that the summer workouts will lay the groundwork for a strong upcoming season.
His vision centers on disciplined defense, rapid transition offense and a culture that prizes accountability as much as skill, aiming to keep the Beavers competitive night after night.
