A new chapter for Edgewood soccer
Jon Gulrajani has taken the reins of the Edgewood University women’s soccer program, succeeding Derek Helmer who stepped down after a successful tenure. Gulrajani arrives with a résumé that includes stints at powerhouse programs such as UW‑Madison, UW‑Milwaukee and UW‑Oshkosh, where he helped guide teams to NCAA Tournament appearances and conference titles.
The 2026 roster reflects a blend of experience and fresh talent. Ten newcomers will join the squad alongside returning standouts, among them goalkeeper Madeline Brown, who earned All‑NACC Honorable Mention last season with three shutouts and a .843 save percentage. Team captain Steph Kalscheuer provides leadership, while a host of other veterans including Megan, Riley, EK, Taetum and Ava look to build on last year’s 15 wins, the most since 2013.
Edgewood’s schedule features a demanding slate of road contests, beginning with matches at Carthage College on September 1 and at UW‑Stout on September 4. Home games will welcome Central on September 9, Lakeland on September 16, Aurora on September 19, MSOE on September 23 and Marian on October 14, before a showdown with Beloit on October 19. The Eagles will close the regular season with trips to Wisconsin Lutheran on October 28 and a final NACC Tournament appearance on October 31.
Gulrajani has expressed confidence that the mix of seasoned players and enthusiastic newcomers will allow the team to forge a distinct identity and set a new standard for the program. With a defensive record that limited opponents to just .90 goals per game last year, ranking second in the NACC, the coaching staff believes the foundation is solid for a competitive season.
