The first night of the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series’ BC39 unfolded under the lights at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, drawing a crowd eager to see the series’ newest format in action.
A Night of Momentum
Drake Edwards seized control on lap seven, pulling ahead of the pack and never looking back, marking his second career USAC victory after a triumph at Mitchell County last season.
Kevin Thomas Jr. chased hard but could only close the gap to 2.35 seconds, settling for second place as Edwards maintained his lead through the final circuits.
Behind them, Gavin Miller and Zach Wigal completed the top four, a result that placed three of the four spots under the Toyota banner, underscoring the manufacturer’s strong presence in the series.
The finale, scheduled for Wednesday night, will award a $20,039 prize to the winner, adding extra stakes to an already competitive field.
Edwards, speaking after the race, expressed excitement about the win and his determination to capture another victory for Chase McDermand Racing the following evening.
