The Illinois high school baseball season is set to culminate in a series of regional playoffs that will begin next week, with two local programs — Edwardsville and Father McGivney — serving as host sites.
Regional Seeds and Dates
Edwardsville enters as the top seed in its Class 4A regional, while Father McGivney holds the second seed in a Class 2A bracket. Both teams will conduct their opening games at home facilities, with Edwardsville’s regional semifinals scheduled for May 27 and its championship game slated for May 30.
Father McGivney’s tournament begins with a quarterfinal on May 25, followed by back‑to‑back semifinals on May 27‑28, culminating in its own regional final on May 30. The school is chasing its fourth consecutive regional title, a streak that could carry it to the Greenville Sectional and, potentially, a super‑sectional at SIU Carbondale on June 8.
Advancement routes differ for the two programs. The Edwardsville Regional champion will travel to Normal Community for a Sectional on June 3, where the championship game will be held at The Corn Crib in Normal on June 6. That winner will then head to the Class 4A state tournament in Joliet, where the final is set for June 12‑13 at Slammers Stadium. Meanwhile, the Class 1A state tournament will also take place in Champaign at the University of Illinois during the same weekend, a stage where Father McGivney finished as runner‑up last year.
