Edwind McGhee is set to join the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) men’s basketball program as a coach for the 2026‑27 season, bringing a championship pedigree and a reputation for player development.
A Coach With a Champion’s Mindset
McGhee arrives after a distinguished tenure at North Park University, where he guided the Vikings to back‑to‑back top‑four finishes in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) and secured the program’s first consecutive CCIW Tournament appearances since the 2016‑17 season.
During his time at North Park he helped the team post a 24‑win season, capture a CCIW Championship in 2023, and earn a Sweet Sixteen berth, a historic achievement for the school.
Prior to North Park, McGhee honed his craft at Lincoln College and as a player at DePaul University, where he earned four‑time Big East All‑Academic honors and a master’s degree, underscoring his blend of academic excellence and athletic ambition.
SIUE head coach Brian Barone praised McGhee’s leadership, noting that his track record of building successful programs aligns perfectly with the Cougars’ “Find A Way” mentality.
McGhee’s family will relocate to Edwardsville, Illinois, to support his new role, signaling a commitment to integrate into the campus community and continue the program’s upward trajectory.
