A Fresh Talent Arrives in Storrs
Egor Amosov, an 18‑year‑old guard from Samara, Russia, is set to join the University of Connecticut’s men’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 season. His arrival marks the latest step in a rapid rise that began in the Real Madrid youth system, where he honed a reputation for versatility and clutch performances.
During the EuroLeague Next Generation Tournament, Amosov averaged 15 points, five rebounds and four assists while shooting 85 % inside the paint and 41 % from three‑point range. Those numbers caught the eye of several NBA scouts and positioned him as one of the most promising European prospects of his generation.
Head coach Dan Hurley praised the newcomer’s skill set, noting that Amosov’s defensive instincts and ability to stretch the floor make him a candidate for a starting spot on the wing. The coach emphasized that the player’s work ethic and basketball IQ align perfectly with the program’s demanding standards.
Amosov’s addition underscores UConn’s expanding international footprint. The Huskies will field a roster that includes several European players, reflecting a strategic push to recruit talent from beyond the United States and to compete at the highest level of collegiate basketball.
Beyond the personal milestone, his presence adds depth to a program that has historically attracted global talent. The blend of seasoned veterans and emerging stars creates a dynamic environment that could reshape the team’s dynamics and ambitions for the upcoming season.
